What do global warming and urbanisation have in common? Both factors are responsible for the steady growth of the global ventilation and air conditioning market. Let's take a look at its main trends and growth points.

Key indicators of the global market of air conditioning and ventilation systems

ASTUTE Analytica analysts have calculated that by the end of 2023, the volume of the global market for air conditioning and ventilation systems was about $164.3 billion. By 2032, according to experts' calculations, this figure will grow to $398.6 billion, provided that the current average annual growth rate (10.4%) is maintained. Moreover, by 2050, the world will be using about 5.6 billion climate systems, which is 4 times more than now (1.6 billion).

It is worth noting the multidirectional vector of development of global ventilation and air conditioning systems. The leading position is held by the USA, where 87% of buildings are equipped with air conditioners. However, the greatest growth is demonstrated by Asian, African and Latin American countries, which is caused by both climatic and economic factors.

Main market trends

Undoubtedly, one of the growth drivers of the global ventilation and air conditioning market is further urbanisation. This is especially typical for the regions of South-East Asia, Africa and Latin America. This trend is also relevant for Russia, especially in view of the rapidly developing housing construction market in 2020-2024.

Climate change is another driver of growth in the global and Russian climate equipment market. For example, over the past 100-150 years, the average annual temperature has increased by more than 1 degree Celsius. In addition, in 2024, daytime temperatures exceeding 20 degrees Celsius were observed in the middle zone of Russia until the end of September.

Ventilation and air conditioning systems continue to be modernised and equipped with IoT. Moreover, more and more of these solutions are being integrated into the smart building system, which not only allows customising profiles for a specific flat or office and controlling the device from a gadget (including remotely), but also simplifies the diagnostic process. We should expect further improvement of such solutions, including the introduction of more advanced AI. And the Russian market has good growth prospects due to the growing digitalisation of a number of processes: it is likely that by 2030, more than 70% of households will be equipped with at least one smart home device.

In the context of rising energy costs, reducing the energy consumption of ventilation and air conditioning systems is becoming increasingly important both globally and in Russia. It is important not only to reduce energy consumption, but also to prevent deterioration of consumer characteristics.

Another trend observed among consumers should not be overlooked. More and more customers are seeking to find a balance between cost and performance, which is caused, among other things, by the rising cost of devices. Some of them are ready to opt for products from second-tier brands in order to get high performance for a smaller budget.

Experts agree that the global (followed by the Russian) market for ventilation and air conditioning systems will continue to grow over at least a one-year planning horizon. Given the stable demand for such solutions and climate change, both companies that have been present in the market for a long time and new players have a chance. They face important business tasks - to demonstrate their products to the target audience and to establish reliable partnerships. And participation in the AIRVent exhibition can help with this.

The exhibition allows manufacturers and suppliers of ventilation and air conditioning systems to demonstrate their products to the largest consumers from industrial enterprises, management companies and property developers. In 2024, the exhibition was visited by 7,523 specialists from 14 countries and 76 regions of Russia. It is worth noting that ventilation and air conditioning equipment took the first two places by product interest of visitors: 75% and 62% of the exhibition specialists were interested in them.
